Parents and Students,
Welcome to this unprecedented school year! When we start school, we will be faced with unique challenges. To see success in these difficult times, we must value all of our classmates, teachers, and staff. Respect for each other and newly established safety guidelines must be placed on the forefront. This year we have 450 students in grades 7-12. All 450 students have different backgrounds, personalities, likes, opinions, and preferences. Lancers need to respect Lancers!
Each year when I address the classes in a meeting I speak of keeping one another safe- in 2020 this means even more. You will be asked to do things at school we haven’t ever done. We will be eating lunch in the HS gym. Before school, we can no longer hang out with friends or walk in the hallways, no more playing hoops in the gym, or even Wednesday morning coffee bar. At times, will be required to wear a face covering. Cloth masks, clear shields, and gaiters are all acceptable face coverings. These are all temporary measures to help keep one another safe and to respect all Lancers. The full reopening plan is posted to our school website.
If you have textbooks (hard covers, non-consumable) that are school owned we are asking you to drop them off at your convenience between August 18-21 from 8:00-3:30. This includes College Credit Plus books. Likewise the current FRESHMAN (Class of 2024) we are asking you drop off your Chromebooks at this time. All other students with issued Chromebooks will keep them for this school year. Classes of 2024, 2026, and new students to the district will be issued Chromebooks within the first few days of school.
Students, you should receive your schedule in the mail by August 10. If there is an issue with your schedule, plan on calling the office at the number listed above or seeing Mrs. Leeth in her office beginning August 10. She will be available from 8:00-3:00 PM to speak to you about your schedule.
One final word on Open House… Open House is scheduled for August 17 from 6:00-7:30. Open House is cancelled for all students in grades 8-12, unless you are a new student to our district. All 7th grade students are still invited to stop in on August 17.
Be positive and keep safe! Our goal is to have students in face-to-face learning as long as we are able here at Lincolnview. If you or your parents are considering full remote learning, please call me at the office as soon as possible. I will share some information that I have on the full remote learning plan offered by Lincolnview Local Schools.
I have attached our JH/HS reopening plan below. We will make our 2020-2021 school year great! We are Lancers!
Mr. Brad Mendenhall
